Raila praises Kalonzo’s loyalty and hints at supporting him in 2027
Raila Odinga, the leader of Azimio la Umoja, has commended Kalonzo Musyoka, the leader of Wiper Democratic Movement, for being faithful to him in his political journey.
Raila said that Kalonzo remained steadfast with him even after he was not chosen as his running mate in the August 9 presidential elections.
“He is a man of courage, determination, and trustworthiness. He has a character of nobility and love,” he said. Raila was speaking on Sunday at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University in Bondo during the 80th birthday party of his elder brother Oburu Odinga.
Raila also criticized President William Ruto for saying that he is prepared to face Kalonzo in the 2027 presidential general election.
He said that anyone in Azimio, including himself, can vie for presidency and he is ready to stand with Kalonzo.
“I heard President Ruto saying that he knows I will not run. So I will only have Kalonzo’s time. He talks about Kalonzo as if he is Kalonzo. Kalonzo has beaten Ruto ten times. He wants to divide us, I don’t know, between me and Kalonzo, saying I will not run,” Raila said.
“One of us here must run. We shall stand firm with Kalonzo Musyoka, he is loyal.”
Raila revealed that Oburu invited Kalonzo as the guest of honour during his birthday party.
Raila wished Oburu well and said he will cherish the memories they have made over the years.
“Oburu, my beloved brother, I wish you a very happy 80th birthday! We’ve been through a lot together over the years, and you’ve always been there for me. May God continue to bless you,” Raila said.
