Heroin Worth Ksh.3.5 Million Seized From Suspect In Mombasa
A woman suspected of drug trafficking is in police custody after she was caught with heroin worth Ksh.3.5 million in Mombasa. The woman, identified as Benta Akinyi Ogola, was arrested on Sunday by detectives from the Transnational Organized Crime Unit (TOCU) and the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ATU) who were following intelligence leads.
The detectives intercepted the suspect as she was carrying a bag that contained the heroin wrapped as a package. The heroin weighed about 3.5 kilograms and had a street value of Ksh.3.5 million.
The suspect will be arraigned in court to face charges of drug trafficking while investigations to nab other accomplices are ongoing. The arrest is part of the ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking in the coastal region, which has been identified as a major transit point for illicit drugs.
